I have been battling… After a rest day from training, I just seem to have lost all my ability – I kept coming up to breath, barely making one of the three laps I was aiming for. Going for these distances/records has so much to do with your headspace and being able to block everything out and focus solely on the task at that specific moment. It is a long breath hold, the record attempt will be around three and a half minutes and trying to over ride the desire to breath(come up) is not easy. Im constantly training to get my mind right to block everything off and push myself further each session, I have achieved the distances before – I know I can do it again, it’s a case of making it consistently.

Other than training in the pool I have been trying to run more, my shoes however gave up on me and fell apart. I bought happened to see a pair that looked good whilst browsing a shop, they were secondhand but looked in good condition and were incredibly priced… Too good to be true – the soles fell completely off on the very first run! Haha. If that wasn’t a nightmare enough, Im spending my off day defrosting my freezer!

It is two weeks until I attempt the record and at the moment I feel like I have totally lost it but I have seen how one day can make all the difference – so tomorrow we try again. I hope you will Join me in these few weeks training as I share the highs and the lows. I am also trying to raise funds for another Guinness World Record attempt early next year in Norway for the “longest under ice swim with breath hold” – that’s no fins, no weight belt, no wetsuit and under 34 cm of ice in sub zero waters! If you would be interested and able to assist, I would appreciate any donations through my crowdfunding page.
