On arrival at my first official day on the job, the dentist asked me how long I will be in Dahab – maybe a question he could have asked before asking me to work for him… Bottom line is I’m not here long enough, so no job. Kind of a bummer but I guess I can really focus on the record and continue to look for potential sponsors to join me on my next few record attempts.

Having changed my training times to the morning I woke up pretty early to give myself time to eat and prepare. This was the second day of training at this time, day one did not go well at all but the extra time in the morning seemed to settle my nerves and I felt better about everything. Knowing that I was attempting a max swim added to the nerves.

Having warmed up I attempted the max failing dismally on the very first length – super frustrating. I continued with training and said I would try again later but with the aim of just two lengths and see if I could manage a turn. Amazingly, on this second attempt I did the full 100m! I am so chuffed as this is the second time I have managed the full distance which would then put me in line to break the outright Guinness World Record! I still have three weeks to become more consistent but I’m really pleased – so much so that I even went for a little jog and the gym after training!

I hope you will Join me in these few weeks training as I share the highs and the lows. I am also trying to raise funds for another Guinness World Record attempt early next year in Norway for the “longest under ice swim with breath hold” – that’s no fins, no weight belt, no wetsuit and under 34 cm of ice in sub zero waters! If you would be interested and able to assist, I would appreciate any donations through my crowdfunding page.
