It’s been a little while since I wrote an update, after breaking the under water walk World Record I had a little break and headed to Germany during Christmas and New Year, whilst there I took the opportunity to take a few dips in the frozen lakes to start getting used to the temperature – it was cold, very cold! This made me realise that training breathe hold and reaching the distance under water was one thing – acclimatising to the water temperature is going to be a challenge all on its own. I think with the elation of breaking the World Record back in February 2020 I completely forgot that it took me a while to get used to the water – especially that I will only be in a bikini.
I returned to Egypt and started training my breathe hold and focusing to still my mind for the task. Im attempting to break the outright World Record and going 100m which is a fair bit longer than my previous record. With the break for Christmas and New Year, training was not flowing as smoothly as I was hoping for this stage especially after the effort I had put in for the under water walk, I also had a big set back with a throat infection and needed antibiotics which put me back a few weeks in my training, however I know that day by day everything gets better by just following the process.
Im now less than four weeks away from heading to Norway where I will spend a week with the team going over the safety protocols, setting up for the attempt and trying to come to grips with the water temperature!
I hope you will Join me on my journey as I share the highs and the lows. I am also trying to raise funds to assist with the Guinness World Record attempt in Norway for the “longest under ice swim with breath hold” – that’s no fins, no weight belt, no wetsuit and under 34 cm of ice in sub zero waters! If you would be interested and able to assist, I would appreciate any donations through my crowdfunding page.
